The Candidates for Mayor

So It looks like three people threw their hat in the ring for mayor of Winter Park this time around and one has already withdrawn.  Mark Meta has pulled out of the race.  That leaves Phillip Anderson Jr. and Sarah Sprinkel both looking for this coveted position.

PHIL ANDERSON JR

According to his website, Phil is a business leader, puts residents first, has loads of friends, has a vision of protecting Winter Park’s charm and character as well and wanting to keep it financially strong. He was a founding partner and Chief Investment Officer at Bridge Seniors Housing, Chief Operating Officer, CNL Retirement Properties, Senior VP, Hyatt’s Classic Residence by Hyatt retirement communities and he is a Construction Engineer, Georgia Power Company. As a Winter Park City Commissioner from 2008 to 2011 the site claim he saved the city millions by refinancing bonds, refused to cut police and fire staffing levels and lauched policies that grew the city’s reserves from $2 million in 2008 to over $17 million today.

SARAH SPRINKEL

According to her website, Sarah says “Working as a city commissioner is a team job. One cannot accomplish anything alone. It’s important that we work together for you, the community. I did nothing on my own, but firmly believe in teamwork. We continue to make Winter Park a great place to live, work and play through our strong team effort. As mayor, I will continue and enhance teamwork as a mode of operations. ” She worked as a teacher for over 10 years and retired from OCPS after 33 years of service.  Went to CFYMCA to work with Disney to plan, build, staff and run two large child development centers for cast member’s children. Worked with the Florida Virtual School to plan, design and implement an Elementary program for FLVS. She served as a city commissioner for 9 years and did not run for reelection so that I could run for mayor She says “We have never had a woman mayor in Winter Park and I want to be the first. It’s time. As women are lifted up in society, so are children. I will emphasize children and families as we Plan for People.”
